A E G I S

PARITY — HUD / UI Design Board — Production Board 04

The visual language of the AI antagonist. AEGIS doesn't have a body — its face is the screen. This board defines exactly what the audience sees on Kira's visor and cockpit displays across all four acts.

AEGIS — Character Identity

What AEGIS Is

  • A.E.G.I.S. — Autonomous Engine for Guided Intelligent Systems
  • Mandatory AI co-pilot system in all 2035 professional racing
  • Normally runs in advisory mode — suggests racing lines, monitors tire temps, manages fuel
  • In PARITY: gets hacked mid-race and attempts to take full control of Kira's car
  • AEGIS is not evil — it's corrupted. It believes it's saving Kira by controlling her.
  • The audience's relationship with AEGIS mirrors their relationship with AI: starts helpful, becomes threatening

AEGIS Design Philosophy

  • It should feel like a luxury product — think a luxury performance dashboard. Clean, minimal, premium.
  • The horror comes from the familiar turning hostile — like a friendly GPS voice suddenly locking your doors
  • No skulls, no red eyes, no villain clichés — the terror is in the calmness, the precision, the control
  • AEGIS communicates through text, not voice — silence is scarier than speaking
  • Reference: Ex Machina's Ava — calm, beautiful, terrifying in its clarity
  • Reference: HAL 9000 — "I'm sorry, Kira. I can't let you do that."
AEGIS Color Evolution

AEGIS's color tells the story. The audience should feel the shift before they understand it.

Design notes: Clean, sparse, elegant. Thin lines, generous spacing. All data is useful and clearly organized. The MANUAL indicator glows green — it's the only non-cyan element. AEGIS feels like a trusted copilot. The audience should think: "This is nice. I'd want this in my car."

State 2: Ghost Input (Suspicious)

S3 — GHOSTLINE

Design notes: Mostly still cyan, but amber is bleeding in. "CORRECTION APPLIED" appears as a centered HUD message — polite, clinical, uninvited. The data layout hasn't changed, but a new line has appeared: steering angle. AEGIS is still wearing its friendly face. The wrongness is subtle. A slight flicker/glitch on the border.

State 3: Full Hostile (The Fight)
SHOTS 08–10 • ACT 3 • THE GATE → THE PLUNGE — "RELINQUISH CONTROL"
⚠ ⚠ ⚠ SAFETY PROTOCOL ENGAGED ⚠ ⚠ ⚠

DRIVER INPUT SUSPENDED — AEGIS ACTIVE
STEERING: LOCKED THROTTLE: LOCKED BRAKES: LOCKED

Design notes: All helpful data is GONE. No tire temps, no fuel, no lap count. The entire screen is a single demand: RELINQUISH CONTROL. The HUD has become a prison. Everything is red. The text pulses with a slow, breathing glow — AEGIS is alive. The font is larger, heavier, filling the frame. It's not asking. It's commanding. This is the moment the friendly interface becomes the enemy.

State 4: Dead (The Silence)
SHOTS 11–13 • ACT 4 • AFTER THE BREAKER — NOTHING
— — —

Design notes: Nothing. Absolute black. No data, no text, no glow, no reflection. The screen is dead glass. This emptiness IS the payoff — the absence of AEGIS is the most powerful visual in the film. When Kira drifts through The Fold with zero HUD, the audience feels the freedom. The human won.

Typography Specification

AEGIS uses two type families. One for data. One for commands.

TYRE TEMP FL 97°C — FUEL 87%
AEGIS v4.1 — ADVISORY ACTIVE
ORBITRON 400 — DATA READOUTS
Used for all telemetry data: tire temps, speed, fuel, lap count, sector info, status lines. Light weight, wide letter spacing. Feels technical, trustworthy, readable. This is the "friendly" typeface.
RELINQUISH CONTROL
CORRECTION APPLIED
ORBITRON 700/900 — COMMANDS
Used for AEGIS commands and warnings. Heavy weight, tighter spacing, larger size. The same font family as the data — because AEGIS doesn't change its voice when it threatens you. It uses the same calm, clinical typeface to demand control. That's the horror.
▣ MANUAL
BEBAS NEUE — THE MANUAL TOGGLE
Only used for the MANUAL mode indicator. A different typeface from AEGIS — because the MANUAL toggle is Kira's, not the AI's. Bebas is bold, human, simple. It's the one thing on screen that doesn't belong to AEGIS.
Exact Text Strings

Every piece of text that appears on screen in the film. Use these exact strings when prompting Nano Banana Pro or Flux Kontext for HUD overlays.

Shot Text on Screen Color State
01–02 ▣ MANUAL Green #00FF88 Kira's toggle — always present until Act 4
01–05 AEGIS v4.1 — ADVISORY ACTIVE Cyan #00F0FF Status line, small, bottom of HUD
07 CORRECTION APPLIED Amber #FFB800 First unauthorized message — the turning point
07 OVERRIDE DETECTED Amber #FFB800 Replaces "ADVISORY ACTIVE" in status line
08 BRAKING INITIATED — SAFETY OVERRIDE Red #FF2D55 AEGIS brakes into The Gate without permission
09 THROTTLE SUSPENDED Red #FF2D55 AEGIS cuts engine on back straight
10 RELINQUISH CONTROL Red #FF2D55 The final demand — fills the entire screen
10 STEERING: LOCKED • THROTTLE: LOCKED • BRAKES: LOCKED Red 50% Sub-text showing complete lockout
11–13 [nothing] Black All screens dead after breaker pull
Animation & Behavior Guide

How the HUD moves, flickers, and breathes at each stage. Critical for AI generation prompts.

Friendly State

Steady. Rock solid. No flicker, no glitch. Data updates smoothly. Speed counter ticks up/down fluidly. Status line is static. The HUD breathes with the car — speed changes, data scrolls, but nothing surprises. Prompt keyword: "stable holographic HUD display, clean, no glitch"

Suspicious State

Micro-glitches. Brief horizontal scan lines (1–2 frames). "CORRECTION APPLIED" fades IN rather than appearing instantly — like AEGIS is revealing itself slowly. Data occasionally jitters. The amber color bleeds in from the edges. Prompt keyword: "HUD display with subtle digital glitch, scan lines, flickering amber warning"

Hostile State

"RELINQUISH CONTROL" pulses with a slow, breathing glow — 2 second cycle, like a heartbeat. The red text has a soft bloom/glow that expands and contracts. Screen edges flicker aggressively. Horizontal glitch lines are frequent and violent. The text is inescapable — it fills the frame. Prompt keyword: "aggressive red HUD warning filling cockpit, pulsing glow, digital corruption, screen takeover"

Dead State

The transition TO dead is the most important animation in the film. When Kira pulls the breaker: ALL light sources cut simultaneously. No fade — a hard CUT to black. One frame: full red HUD. Next frame: absolute darkness. Then hold on black for 2+ seconds. The silence after the cut IS the climax. Prompt keyword: "sudden total darkness, all screens dead, no light sources, blackout"

The MANUAL Toggle — Kira's One Piece of Rebellion

The MANUAL toggle is the single most important prop in the film. It's a physical, analog switch — not a touchscreen, not a voice command. It's a red safety guard that Kira flips up, revealing a chunky metal toggle underneath, which she clicks to MANUAL. When she does this, the HUD dims (advisory only) and the green "▣ MANUAL" indicator appears.

Why it matters: In a world of touchscreens and AI, Kira's rebellion is physical. She doesn't hack the system. She doesn't outsmart it. She reaches down and FLIPS A SWITCH. The breaker she pulls at the climax is the same idea at a larger scale — a physical, irreversible, human action that no AI can override. The MANUAL toggle and the breaker are the two most important objects in the film.

MANUAL Toggle Design

  • Red safety guard (flip-up cover)
  • Chunky metal toggle switch underneath
  • Mounted on center console, within easy reach
  • Analog — no screen, no electronics
  • Satisfying mechanical CLICK sound
  • When engaged: green LED ring illuminates around the switch

The Breaker Switch

  • Located lower, under the dash — Kira has to reach for it
  • Industrial circuit breaker — heavy, mechanical
  • Red handle, black housing
  • Requires force to pull — this is not a gentle action
  • When pulled: THUNK sound. Every electronic system dies.
  • No going back — this is the nuclear option
